Post 212: real things, turtles, dew drops, morning, South Carolina, poem, painting

by Carol Bass

so many things one can hold in the heart
very near to bursting
glancing out the open window
the pattern of early morning dew
the voice of L. C. Legare
speaking about his wife Tawanda

wet, spherical prints forming on the dirt road
dripping from high-over palmetto leaves
each one a different painting
wild square dancing circles where butterflies partner up

performance art with background music
six turtles loving the sun’s warmth
doves, wrens, waves
lighting too
the glowing silver streak on the sea
the moon roving behind the curtain
the beginning of a day
