Post 150: Sunset, Moss, Love, Leaves, South Carolina, Maine, art, poetry

by Carol Bass

The Love Play

Caught again
making love at day’s end
Softest gold light kissing leaves
fingering each strand of moss
every blade of grass
especially the shy and torn

Lovers departing
open meadows, mountain tops
leaving the air clapping
for the next stars

And we get to live, with the herons
in the middle
of this grand affair
No reserved seats or prepaid tickets
All we must do
is show up
