POST 109: Love of the WORLD, The Pelican’s Flight, Blowing, Rustling Palmeto Leaves

by Carol Bass

The rush comes
through the heart
when they swoop and dive
pelicans bursting in the waves
terror pouncing on the tiny fish

In bed at night
the pounding of waves smash the beach
in cadence with my heartbeats
the vibrations beat the aliveness
the mad dash of living
the soul is swelling
with heartbreak and joy
the breathing of ages
this sliver of life
