POST 95: Chipmunk poem, painting, art, Maine,September fate

CHIPMUNK TERROR

well, this is as it happened on this beautiful September morn, be kind, be kind, be kind with a powerful fierceness

A sweet horrific life
kernel of breath tumbling
for two seconds in the void
gathering hiding nuts
manically for another deep winter’s
survival directed by his genes
scurrying
only to be trapped inside a
giant yuppie house
where a kind black lab
chomps his bones
to bits
why were his choices
so unlike his family
on the next wooded lot
where mushrooms and spiderwebs
grew
