POST 227: Phone call, curiosity, readiness, participation, LIFE, South Carolina, poem, painting, sun
by Carol Bass
ANSWERING THE PHONE
most times I hide
pulling the atmosphere
over my ears
I MUST PAINT, MUST WRITE
today
from Dubose,
mid eighties,
answering ON half ring
jangling,
lurching toward curious
who’s there,
what, IF, and when?
Virginia’s birthday supper
first in line
filling her plate
pouring the wine
10 children, 20 grandkids, all over the world
tightrope walking daughter at 60, in France
who
what
when?
it’s your move
your LIFE

This is fabulous, Carol. We do need to answer the phone sometimes. Aren’t we lucky to have exemplars among us?
Cain’t wait to see you on Tues. xo bg
