Post 216: waves, ancient, smudge sticks, friends, Syria, Ethiopia, South Carolina, poem, painting
by Carol Bass
WHAT A WAVE CAN DO (solstice thoughts)
I want to make smudge sticks for my friends
brush smoke around our earthly bodies
clearing away sins while we sing
washed by the love
of the ancients
the wise
on the way to collect
cedar and rosemary
sage and sweet grass
I saw 2 women walking
on the right of the road
waving, smiling to a man raking
across the way
all for us
this wave
of universal dancing
supplying enough love nutrients
for Syria and Ethiopia
Greenland and America
for you and for me

The solstice poem and painting have now been published to my refrigerator door where all who come to share my lunch will see and hear the beauty of your imagery.
love to you Carol. Thank you for the poem.
